Sundarvan- Mini zoo in Ahmedabad
Sundarvan is rooted in the heart of the city. This mesmerizing place is sure to take your and your loved one’s heart. Sundarvan is a place that is calm, still and fetches you back to your pedigrees. It is all in one location, an undisturbed and serene place where you can utilize your time feeling close to flora and fauna.
This Epitome inspires life and you will surely rejuvenate amidst green foliage. The land was bought by Kartikey Sarabhai who happens to be the son of Vikram Sarabhai in 1979. Sundarvan was established by Salim Ali who is popularly referred to as ‘The Birdman of India’. He has an unmatchable contribution in the field of Ornithology.
Sundarvan and its history
Sundervan was established by Salim Ali who was the famous bird watcher. This is an epitome that was initially established as the snake rescue centre and people from everywhere visit this place for snake awareness stuff. Later slowly and steadily it was established into a mini zoo. This place houses ample of animals that educate children and folks in the related field.
Sundarvan and the programs held
Sundarvan held education program for different schools and colleges. It gives education related to the environment and wild life. Around 250 + schools are visiting every year. Over and above apart from schools it fascinates nearly 2 lakhs + visitors annually. There are a series of the program for different ages.

- Night camp for kids

Sundarvan is a self-sustaining unit. You can adopt any animal for a specific time frame. This is a place that houses various birds, mammals, porcupine, turkey, pigeons, love birds, turtles, snakes, python, fishes, rabbits, crocodiles, monitor lizard, bats and many more.
One of the best things we enjoyed is bird feeding. Birds are let out and we can feed them with puffed rice. Puffed rice is the only thing we can take it from home and feed the birds. This a place that is calm, serene and we feel blessed to be amongst them. Kids would literarily love this place and would leave an ever-lasting impression in their minds.
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your water bottles, snacks and don’t forget to pack puffed rice for your little birdies waiting for you there!

Zoos if taken care well then they are a great place for education. People can see and learn about the different animals and their habitat. It’s good that there is a mini zoo right in the middle of the city like Ahmedabad.

This is a wonderful surprise. My bhua stays on Satelite road and I have been to Ahmedabad twice but never did I visit Sudervan. Next time I am there will definitely check it out. Good to see these places are self-sustained. A wonderful approach to allow people to sponsor via adoption. It not only makes an attachment but also instils empathy for the birds and animals.
