India's first ever seaplane

Seaplane service is going to get initiated in India at the Sabarmati riverfront. Sea plane will be operating between the Sabarmati riverfront and the Statue of Unity in Narmada district. It will be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on 146th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel 31st of October, the Iron Man of India. It is a 19 seater seaplane and can accommodate 14 passengers at a time. It takes about 45 minutes for a single journey. It is a Twin Otter 30, which reached Sabarmati riverfront Ahmedabad from the Maldives. This seaplane will be operated by Spicejet and will be used as a part of regional connectivity between Sabarmati riverfront and Statue of Unity, Kevadia.

Operation time:

It will operate 4 times a day.

The single route will take around 45 minutes covering a distance of 220 kilometres. It is going to be the first-ever seaplane in India. It provides an air journey wherein one can visit the Statue of Unity in a single day. Flights operate accordingly. Travel time is nearly four hours for a single-way journey which will drastically cut down to 45 minutes.

When you have a seaplane running, a water aerodrome is required!

Water aerodrome was earlier planned on the western bank of the Sabarmati river which has later been shifted to Eastern coast. Watching a plane take off from a sea is mesmerizing and watching India’s first-ever seaplane would be a sight to behold. Efforts are taken to increase tourism in Gujarat and this is one of the drastic step taken for the same.

Charges for seaplane

Earlier the ticket price for the seaplane was decided to be INR 4800 which was then reduced to INR 3000. You can watch the aerial view of two stunning symbols of Indian fraternity. All we got to do is wait for the mind-boggling seaplane to march between the two structures that stand as the pride of India. It has got a massive response from the public before its launch and government is taking due care to fulfil all the demands without raising the fares.

Wow this is new to me. I had never heard about sea plane before but after reading your post felt that it is so much fun. Would love to take that ride with my family when visit India next time.
